Commonly Notarized Documents

A notarized document needs a notary public to oversee its signings.

Before we go over a list of the most common notarized documents, please remember that each state has its own set of rules regarding forms, and the notarization process.

We strongly advise you to conduct your own research before beginning the notarization process.

Passport Parent consent

Whenever one parent or guardian who does not have any sole legal guardianship of a minor applies for a travel document, the Passport Parental Consent Form is required because the general rule requires the signature of both parents. To give the applying parent or guardian consent to gain the travel documents, the non-applying parent or guardian must fill in the form and have it notarized.

Power of attorney documents

This is a formal agreement that authorizes one individual, the agent or attorney-in-fact, to intervene on behalf of another person, the principal, in matters of property, finances, or health, depending on the scope of the powers granted.

Quitclaim Deed

Used to transfer the ownership of a piece of property from one person to the next without providing a guarantee. The grantor does not guarantee that the property is free of any other claims. Quitclaim Deeds are commonly used to transfer ownership of real estate between family members.

Deed of Trust

This is a document in which the borrower transfers legal title to their property to a trustee, who holds it in trust as security for the repayment of the lender’s loan.

Medical Authorization for Minor

Someone other than the parent or legal guardian has temporary rights to seek and provide health services and make healthcare action in the best interests of their child under the terms of this legal document. Relatives, childcare providers, nannies, educators, coaches, and family friends are the most frequent users. A legal guardian can designate other obligations, such as schooling power and authority and day-to-day caregiver, by the use of Child Power of Attorney, in addition to clinical choices.

Living Trust

This is a formal and legal document, or trust, established during an individual’s life span that entrusts the management of that individual’s assets to a designated person, the trustee, for the financial advantage of the eventual recipient.

Unclaimed Property Form

Unclaimed property refers to money or other assets that have become dormant and have been deemed abandoned by their owner. To finally get this property or asset sent to you, you will have to get this document notarized.

Bill of Sale

A Bill of sale is a legally binding document that reveals the handover of finances to transfer ownership of an asset to a third party. When transferring ownership of automobiles, aircraft, watercraft, and personal property such as jewelry or art, a bill of sale is frequently used. In California, you can choose to have a bill of sale notarized or not.
